StatCom - Patient Logistics

Trends are on hospital teams before they know it. They don't have the hospital capacity management tools to see what's coming in order to take appropriate actions.

"Improving operational performance will help Mercy Health Partners to reduce inherent delays in the patient care process by decreasing diversions, increasing bed capacity and managing length of stay (LOS) more effectively."

- Samantha M. Platzke, Senior Vice President and Chief Financial and Transformation Officer, MHP

StatCom Patient Logistics is integral to StatCom's Hospital Operating SystemTM solution. It efficiently communicates the status of all patients and resources simultaneously to all users in the enterprise. It integrates the cross departmental workflow necessary to effectively solve hospital capacity management challenges.

By enabling all patients to flow simultaneously at their best possible rate with respect to LOS, service times, quality, safety, and resource consumption, hospitals improve operations, as well as increase physician, staff, and  patient satisfaction.

StatCom Patient Logistics includes a powerful bed management application with the added benefit of an enterprise-wide view for bed managers. All departments have access to the current location and status of the patient, ensuring the patient is never lost in the system.

A wide range of real-time dashboards and reports provide detailed analytics to measure performance for hospital capacity management and supports continuous improvement processes. Departmental displays replace traditional nursing unit grease boards and provide a rich set of real-time information.

Patient Logistics includes:

  • Bed Management system - An up-to-the-minute view of bed availability, occupancy and status across the facility through wall-mounted bed tracking boards and nursing unit displays provides immediate visibility of patient flow status. Provides immediate updates to all the resources needed to manage the patient's progression.
  • Case Management - Proactive management of a patient's length of stay from admission through discharge, combined with hospital capacity management, begins at the admissions review and continues until the patient is discharged. The patient care process provides targeted length of stay and payor authorization management.
  • Nursing Unit Boards - Patient location management through innovative patient flow software optimizes staffing and unit transfer/transport coordination. Charge nurses can easily assign patients to beds, allocate caregivers to patients on a shift by shift basis, and control patient movement and patient status.
  • Environmental Services - Real-time task prioritization and staff assignment management. Requests for cleaning are automatically triggered as soon as a patient is transported from their bed for a unit transfer or discharge.
  • Transportation Services - Real-time task prioritization and staff assignment management. Transporters are automatically assigned to and immediately notified of transport requests based on availability, geography, and priority.
