StatCom OR

The greatest operating room management challenges facing the OR today include increasing surgeon, anesthesiologists and nursing shortages, and how to make the surgery department more efficient and productive. StatCom's patient care technology solutions can help.

"Time is money in surgery. Implementing a real time workflow management system saves our department time and increases the number of cases we perform each day."

- Director of Perioperative Services

With StatCom OR, part of the Hospital Operating SystemTM solution, making the status of each case visible throughout the department , communications is increased, and patient status and tracking capabilities increase the effectiveness of the entire surgical team.

In the pre-op area, StatCom's operating room management eliminates the need to print and distribute surgery schedules to multiple departments. Nurses can document when the history and physical are taken, the consent forms are signed, and if the IV was started. The anesthesiologist can view the screen or a message can be sent to determine when the patient is ready for a consultation. By creating an efficient pre-op process through the patient care technolgy, staff can help ensure more on time case starts, making the surgeons more productive.

StatCom's patient care technology solves many common operating room management problems. With instant visibility to patient status, both pre- and post-surgery, phone calls for routine patient flow management are eliminated. This visibility facilitates proactive management of the patient's case throughout the surgery process. The clinical team can spend more time taking care of patients, not on the phone.

Functions

  • Pre-Admission Testing - Outstanding tasks and responsible parties are displayed, and each resource (E.g. Anesthesia, RN, EKG Tech, etc.) can view their work queues easily.
  • Arrival / Registration - Patient care technology facilitates the flow and management of the patient arrival process through configurable workflow screens. Upon arrival, all relevant displays throughout the OR update with patient status (e.g. Arrived, Registered, PreOp, etc.).
  • Family Waiting Area - Enables hospitals to remain in constant contact with family members through both the family waiting area display and through custom pager messages.
  • PreOp - Just-in-time notification through operating room management, keeps staff informed of patient status but focused on patients ready for the PreOp phase of care. The patient care technology also allows for flexibility in assigning rooms for patients, as well as accommodating patients who must leave the PreOp area for other services.
  • Surgery - Provides proactive operating room management for the patient's stay throughout the surgery process. Prior to surgery completion the OR can request a PACU or inpatient room.
  • Sterile Processing - Automates the communication of case cart status between the OR and Sterile Processing department. Automatic notification of pick-ups for completed and cancelled cases.
  • Surgeons / Anesthesiologists - Instant visibility to status of upcoming cases and room status.  Facilities can opt to include automated or custom paging messages to physicians for key milestone updates.
  • Recovery - PACU - Key milestones and family communications are synchronized between areas, and patient location is maintained to assist in physicians finding the patients post-surgery. Anesthesia assessment requests are pushed real-time and post-PACU placement can be interfaced directly to bed management.
