Former Bergen Mercy COO, CNE, and Alegent Health executive
responsible for the Quality Accelerator joins StatCom in a
strategic partnership program that helps hospitals transform
throughput operations.
Atlanta, GA - February 2, 2010 - StatCom announces the addition of Mary
Kay Thalken RN, MBA, to the StatCom transformation team as
enterprise vice president, Western region. Previously, Thalken
served as COO and chief nurse executive of Bergen Mercy Medical
Center, the flagship of the Alegent Health system in Omaha,
Nebraska. Thalken's visionary leadership and strategic thinking led
to the development of a patient care delivery model that became the
operational blueprint for the facility.
Thalken has worked extensively with physicians and staff in the
development and execution of high-impact, innovative strategies in
achieving business objectives and opportunities. She was the
executive responsible for the Quality Accelerator program
system-wide. Thalken's process improvement and quality leadership
experience gives her a unique and practical approach when
addressing the capacity and patient throughput challenges hospitals
and health systems face.
StatCom's Hospital Operating
SystemTM solution, through process re-engineering
and enabling software, helps hospitals transform their operations
to deliver efficient patient throughput, reduced ALOS, and improved
physician, patient and staff satisfaction. Client results are
remarkable, delivering as much as $10.3 million and five times the
ROI in the first 12 months of a StatCom strategic partner
engagement.
"As a previous StatCom customer I observed firsthand how StatCom
helps hospitals transform hospital operations," said Thalken,
enterprise VP. "I look forward to leveraging that experience to the
benefit of other hospitals. The StatCom team is composed of a group
of professionals who are passionately committed to enabling
hospitals to unleash their throughput potential in order to improve
patient care and financial performance, and I feel privileged to
join them in this worthy cause."
In her role as enterprise VP, Thalken partners with client
hospital executives to ensure the success of their transformation
project. Assisting her are executive advisors and transformation
engineers who collaborate with existing hospital resources to
drive the process transformation methodology. An implementation
team maps the future state process flows and key performance
indicators (KPI's) into the technology and completes all necessary
interfaces to integrate the Hospital Operating System solution into
the hospital's IT platform. Dashboards deliver real-time
operational performance information to executives and operational
managers. The outcome is breakthrough operational performance.
"Mary Kay is a demonstrated leader in quality and hospital
throughput operations," said Ben Sawyer, StatCom executive vice
president. "She has lived through the key issues and overcome the
obstacles that a hospital executive faces when attempting to
transform their operations, and as an enterprise VP she will be an
excellent partner to hospital executives serious about taking their
operations to the next level."
